The pikkolo by CatBird Baby is a hybrid baby carrier that combines the ease of webbing and dual-adjustable quick-release buckles with the flexibility and versatility of a traditional unstructured mei tai. It can be used on the front, hip, or back, with the straps either crossed or worn backpack-style.
One of the pikkolo's most innovative features is the cinch drawstrings that, in combination with the unpadded waist belt, enable the base of the carrier to be narrowed. This allows newborns and small babies to be carried with their legs out and permits a forward facing out position for bigger babies. This is the only structured carrier that I recommend for a forward facing out position for ergonomic support for both parent and baby.
The slow-recovery memory foam in the top straps is compact and lightweight but extremely cushy. A detachable hood provides support for sleeping babies' heads. Suitable for babies from 8 to 40 pounds.
